Welcome

Mike Adamski began his teaching career in the fall of 2005 after graduating from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in secondary education (communication and English) and currently teaches at Woodstock High School (IL) in the English department.  He began his career with the “Blue Streaks,” and has been fortunate enough to have remained with [...]

Vision/Philosophy

The marriage between technology and education has never been more important, yet the speed at which technology is traveling has never been faster.  Education, in the traditional sense, has historically had trouble keeping the pace.  If we as educators are going to break the trend, a new approach must be chosen. tbc…

Teacher Tech

Teacher Tech is a blog covering technology for educators which started in 2005 as nothing more than a simple email with some screenshots.  It eventually progressed into the world of Adobe .pdf files, and is now an internet blog hosted here at www.mikeadamski.com. Aside from Teacher Tech (on the home page), follow me on Twitter [...]

Computer Club

I became advisor for the Computer Club at Woodstock High School in 2007, and the club has progressed quickly over those years.  It’s truly a credit to the students, as our meetings are one of those rare times I feel a challenge with computers.  The students who make up the club are incredibly advanced, and I can honestly say that there [...]

Travel Abroad Club

In 2008, I helped create the WHS Travel Abroad Club.  The idea came from the persuasion of some forward-thinking students I was chaperoning a trip to Spain with that same year.  Thus far, the club has provided opportunities for students to visit France, Monacco, and Italy.  More information is available at our Facebook page.

Mike Adamski Music

I’ve been writing music since I was in middle school and my style has progressed while also remaining true to its roots.  While I continue to write as enjoyment, I’ve begun writing for commercial usage as well.  More information can be found at www.mikeadamskimusic.com

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2012/apr/25/google-drive-dropbox-cloud-computing Later this spring, Google will be fully launching their latest development, Google Drive. Google Drive is essentially a dropbox which works similarily to Google Docs, however the biggest difference is that Google Drive will be much less limited and easier to move files to and from the Google servers. One of the most advantageous [...]

http://www.seirtec.org/plan/Ch%204.pdf In a professional development (PD) report for my graduate program this week, I had the opportunity to examine a handful of very beneficial forms of PD.  One of the most impressive I came across was Informal Professional Development (IPD).  IPD focuses on one important element that the other PD models did not—“Not all professional [...]

As promised last time, I wanted to dive into a technology tool that I’ve personally been waiting for for about 2 years now. Remind 101 is a “students follow teacher” system similar to Twitter–groups of people can follow a user(s).  The problem with Twitter has always been, for the purpose of students following a teacher, [...]

For this first blog entry of Teacher Tech (the first one online!), I’d like to talk about a couple of new presentation tools that I’ve stumbled across lately and have successfully used in the classroom. I wanted to find something more intuative, relevant, and interesting for my students to use as a visual aide when [...]

At first it was bothering me a bit that my site was still in the “under construction stages;” I felt almost irresponsible. However, when I began to think more about it, I realized that there’s no better state for a website, especially one based on education and technology, to be in: Under Construction. I hope [...]
